January 7th, 2012

Welcome back everyone! Hope you're all still in the holiday spirit cause this week will be CA's traditional Week 1 afterevent:

Winter Wonderland!

Come out to CA's first afterevent of the Winter Quarter! There'll be games and activities, and most notably a white elephant gift exchange! Not sure what white elephant is? No worries there, because a quite thorough explanation was provided by one of your Publicity Coordinators, Ash Shih, whose birthday also happens to be today the 7th:

“On an elementary level, each participant supplies one wrapped gift. The first person opens a wrapped gift and the turn ends. The second person then chooses whether to open a wrapped gift or "steal" a previously opened gift. If a person has his gift stolen, he also has the option of choosing a wrapped gift or stealing an unwrapped one (a gift can only be stolen three times for our version and no immediate steal backs from a person that just stole from you). When a wrapped gift is opened, the turn ends. The game continues until the first person goes a second time.”

Also, please note that if you would like to participate, we ask that you bring a wrapped gift costing so more than $5.
Also also, during this meeting, we will determine the winner of the Battle of the Clubs raffle!

Week 2: Clubbing

Yes, you heard right! Week 2, CA will be going clubbing at Empire in Hollywood for a Lunar New Year event! Joining us will be the other “CA’s” from USC, UCLA, UCSD, and UCR.
Presale tickets are only $15, ask your big for one or find us boothing throughout Week 1 and 2 on Ring Road selling tickets (and possibly boba as well).

If you have any questions about clubbing, email Ethan at externalvp@cauci.com!

BATTLE OF THE CLUBS!

Remember this from last quarter? Well, the results are in and CA is once again the reigning champions in Lollicup’s Battle of the Clubs.
We would like to thank everyone for their support in this battle and encourage you all to join us for Week 1’s meeting where we will find out who the lucky winner of the raffle will be.  The winner will receive free entry to all CA events this quarter for him/herself and a friend.

High School Outreach (HSO)

Interested in doing some community service with CA? Well, here's your opportunity to do so and a few words from our Community Outreach Chair, Mark Neely:

"High School Outreach is an annual program that CA has held every year. It is a day where High School students from underprivileged high schools come to UCI, and they spend a day learning about the school and college life. This event will take place on March 9th, Week 9 of Winter quarter. If you are interested in helping and/or volunteering for the event we will announce the time and date of our weekly HSO planning meetings at CA General Meeting. Hope to see you guys there! "

If you are interested in participating in HSO, then feel free to send Mark an email at community@cauci.com!

Constituent Event!

This is an event dedicated solely to allow memeber to meet and get to know more the constituents of CA; that is, CAMA, CADC, and CADB. Constituent Event will take place sometime this quarter during the month of March.
More information to come, but in the mean time if you have any questions about it, feel free to shoot Claire an email at: internalvp@cauci.com!
